Staff
In the retail business, they say Location. Location. Location! Well, when you're talking about camps, or any program that involves caring for and educating children, it's Staff. Staff. Staff!
We believe that as exciting, enriching and fun as all the wonderful activities we have at Super Duper Arts Camp are, a child's experience at camp is really going to be great because of the people who are there to teach, nurture, guide, inspire and care for them.
That’s why we are unwaveringly committed to hiring only the best of the best to be a part of our team; people who are not only warm, bright, nurturing, positive role models, but also experienced, educated, professionals who are trustworthy and reliable; people who understand children's needs emotionally, socially & developmentally; people who share our belief in empowerment through creativity and self-expression, our love of children and the understanding of the monumentally important task/duty/privilege/responsibility/honor of influencing a child's life.
Counselors
While many camps are content to hire teens who are "good with kids," we are committed to hiring adults with experience, maturity and an understanding of how each and every moment in their day influences the experience of the children under their care. Most of our counselors work with children during the school year, as teachers, assistants or in afterschool programs. Some are parents themselves. All are very selectively chosen because they are in tune with our philosophy, mission & values.
During camp, there are two counselors assigned to each group (12-18 kids per group). Counselors provide stability and continuity for the children on a daily basis. They guide the children through their day, taking them from activity to activity, helping them with everything from tying shoes, escorting them to the bathroom and eating their lunch & snack to making friends, resolving conflicts, navigating social situations, and giving them the confidence and encouragement to participate and fully engage in whatever activity they may be doing. They are also there to assist the instructor for each activity, adding extra support, engagement and supervision for each class or activity.
Teachers
Each activity at Super Duper Arts Camp is led by a specialist instructor. Our teachers are not only skilled and experienced in their respective field, but are also great teachers. They are patient, caring and skilled at finding the right way to make each child feel good about themselves as they learn something new and have a great time, too!
We bring in all the best specialists we can find for each field. Whether it be art, music, theater, dance, yoga, gymnastics, cooking, Tae Kwan Do or any other activity, your child is being taught by someone who is specialized in that field and who has years of experience honing their craft and teaching it as well.
Executive Director
Our esteemed executive director is none other than Mr. Super Duper himself, Segev Perets, the founder of Super Duper Arts Camp. In the inaugural edition of Super Duper Arts Camp, there were no teachers or counselors. Just Segev & Sara and 10 campers. Segev taught Art, Music, Stunts, & Yoga (that’s right), while Sara taught Dance, Theater, Gymnastics and more Art. Since then, they’ve added tons more activities and built an amazing team of counselors, teachers and staff. Sara has moved on to direct The Sunshine Shack and Segev is dedicated to directing Super Duper Arts Camp full time. Segev is the mad scientist in charge of scheduling, staffing, programming, conceiving and executing all of our crazy Fun Friday ideas, registration, website and generally making sure your children are always cared for and having a great time. Segev is always available, either in person or by phone, text and email to a help you with anything from questions about programming, enrollment & payment, personal issues relating to your child or anything Super Duper from A to Z.
Co-Director
Possibly the most popular and beloved man in Super Duper Arts Camp history, counting Segev, is Clay Griffith, our talented and special co-director. If you know Clay, you know what Im talking about. For those who have no yet had the pleasure, the English language is, unfortunately, insufficient to describe the amazingness that is Clay. It has to be experienced to be understood. Suffice it to say that Clay is just one of those unique and magical people that everyone loves, who really understands how to be both a friend and a leader to children. Clay has worked with team Super Duper for 3+ years in every capacity, from afterschool coordinator to counselor to lead counselor and now, co-director. Clay will also be available at all times for assistance and inspiration to children and staff, and for feedback and general communication with parents on anything you would/could speak to Segev about and to generally facilitate the Super Duper-ness of camp.
