Specialty Program

In addition to in-depth Art Projects and some of the “classic” SDAC activities (see below), JCITs will have 2 to 3 “Specialty” activities each week that they will work on each day for a week, allowing them to delve deeper into the creative process and take their learning and fun to a higher level.

While our approach still is to focus on process more than results, our Specialty Program allows our JCITs to invest more into a project and work towards a finished product they can be proud of, whether it be a film, a book, a rock band performance or a birdhouse they built themselves.

Specialty Program Activities Include:

Field Trips

JCITs and campers 3rd grade and up will take a new, exciting field trip each session!   Field trips offer our older delegation of campers an opportunity to expand the scope of their activities, learning and fun at SDAC.   All trips are designed to be exploratory, educational, engaging, empowering and most of all, fun!

Our field trips destinations have been carefully selected to represent the aims of our philosophy and the fulfillment of our mission.

Field Trips Include:

Session 1  -  STAR Eco Station

Session 2  - Rockcreation

Session 3  - LA Connection Comedy Theatre Session 4  - The GRAMMY Museum

Session 5  -  The Beach!

L3

JCITs also get to enjoy use of our Livin’ Large Lounge (L3).  L3 is a lounge & recreation room where  our older campers and JCITs can hang out, read books, magazines & comic books, listen to music and play cards, board games or rec-room games like pool, ping pong, foosball & air hockey.

Classic Activities

In addition to specialty program activities, attending field trips and being eligible to attend overnight retreats, JCITS will also participate in some of our class SDAC activities:

SDAC is proud to introduce our new JCIT (Junior Counselor In Training) program for campers entering 7th grade and up!

Our JCIT Program is the perfect stepping stone on the way from being a camper to being a CIT (Counselor In Training).  We’ve found that many kids of this age are eager for a new and expansive experience beyond the spectrum of what simply being a camper can provide, but yet they are not quite ready to relinquish their desire to just have fun and participate in activities, or for the responsibility that being a Counselor In Training requires.

The Super Duper Arts Camp JCIT program offers them the best of both worlds, building the maturity, responsibility and leadership skills that the next step requires, while still getting to have all the fun of being a camper, participate in their favorite activities and attend all field trips.

The JCIT program is a great first step for pre-teens & young teens who want to move in the direction of being part of camp leadership, but still want to have fun and participate in camp projects, activities and trips.

Participation in the JCIT program also qualifies JCITs to be selected into the CIT program.

What’s Different?

In addition to participating in many of the regular (and special) camp activities as our oldest set of campers, the JCIT program also includes:

Musical Theater

Authors & Illustrators  (Book Making)

Dance & Stunts Choreography

Mini Monster Garage

More!

Qualify for our CIT Program

In addition to the great fun, learning and growing, another great benefit of the JCIT program is that JCITs pre-qualify for participation in our CIT program when they are old enough.    CITs who are 12th grade or older, then qualify for paid employment as a Junior Counselor at SDAC
