What’s Different?

While our 3rd - 6th graders still get the incredible diversity activities that our younger campers do, they are now ready to tackle more challenging projects, new art forms & media and narrow their focus a little to work on larger projects over a longer period of time.

They are also ready for field trips, performances and eligibility to go on one or both of our Overnight Retreats (see below for more info).  And, of course, let’s not forget exclusive use of the Livin’ Large Lounge (see below).

Specialty Program

In addition to the “classic” SDAC activities list above that vary from day to day, our older campers will now have 2 to 3 “Specialty” activities each week that they will work on each day for a week, allowing them to delve deeper into the creative process and take their learning and fun to a higher level.

While our approach still is to focus on process more than results, our Specialty Program allows our older campers to invest more into a project and work towards a finished product they can be proud of, whether it be a film, a book, a rock band performance or a birdhouse they built themselves.

Specialty Program Activities Include:

  1.   Two Overnight Retreats! (optional)

  2.   New Specialty Program

  3.   More In depth Art Projects!

Field Trips

That’s right!   Campers 3rd grade and up will take a new, exciting field trip each session!   Field trips offer our older delegation of campers an opportunity to expand the scope of their activities, learning and fun at SDAC.   All trips are designed to be exploratory, educational, engaging, empowering and most of all, fun!

Our field trips destinations have been carefully selected to represent the aims of our philosophy and the fulfillment of our mission.

Field Trips Include:

Session 1  -  STAR Eco Station

Session 2  - Rockcreation

Session 3  - LA Connection Comedy Theatre Session 4  - The GRAMMY Museum

Session 5  -  The Beach!

L3

Campers 3rd grade & up also get exclusive use of our Livin’ Large Lounge (L3).  L3 is a lounge & recreation room where  our older campers and JCITs can hang out, read books, magazines & comic books, listen to music and play cards, board games or rec-room games like pool, ping pong, foosball & air hockey.

Group X

This is just for our oldest group of campers.   While all other groups have set group names (Lions, Tigers, Bears, Oh Mys, Totos, Wizards, Flying Monkeys, Scarecrows, Tin Men, etc), the oldest group at camp is always Group X.  Group X campers get to choose their own, which means they can pick their own group name and change it as often as they like.

Campers entering 3rd - 6th grade also enter a whole new stratosphere of Awesomeness!

In our on-going quest to make Super Duper Arts camp even more fun every year, we are always looking to add new programming and activities for returning and older camps.

This year, we are besides ourselves with excitement to announce the addition of...

Film Making

Play Performance

Music Recording

Animation

Streetwear Design
